Listed
below are answers to West Valley Collection & Recycling’s
most frequently asked questions regarding transition to your
new services.
Q.
How do I get a new garbage or recycling cart?
If
you’ve previously called in your request for a new garbage
or recycling cart please allow us three business days to complete
delivery.
If
you have not yet called customer service with your cart request,
please call (408)283-9250.
Q. What do I do with my old containers?
Garbage
carts and cans: If you have an old green or grey cart
that you rented or purchased from Green Valley Disposal Company,
please do not use it. Green Valley will arrange to collect
it from you. If you have a metal or plastic garbage can that
you purchased on your own, please do not use it at the curb
any longer. You may use it for storage or around the house
if you wish. In April you will receive a sticker from West
Valley that says “Recycle Me” – if you do
not want to keep your can, put a sticker on it and set it
out at the curb for recycling.
Recycling
cans and tubs: If you have the old set of three tubs for
sorting recyclables, please do not use them at the curb any
longer. They are yours to keep if you wish, to use for storage
or around the house. In April you will receive a sticker from
West Valley that says “Recycle Me” – if
you do not want to keep your bins, put a sticker on them and
set them out at the curb for recycling.
Yard
trimmings cart: If you have a Waste Management yard trimmings
cart you may continue to set this out at the curb for service.
Q. What goes in each of my carts?
Place
all of your recyclable items in your WVC&R blue recycling
cart.
Place
all of your garbage in your WVC&R brown solid waste cart.
Place
all of your yard trimmings in your Waste Management brown
cart or your WVC&R green organic materials cart.
For
a detailed list of acceptable items please go to the single-family
residential tab and select
recyclables.
